Michelle's Musings

I am really not looking forward to going back to school in a few weeks. I have really enjoyed spending time at home with Quinton. Gabe and I went to see a play Saturday and eat dinner and we left Quinton with my mom. That was the longest 4 hours of my life!! I cried most of the way to the theatre!! Gabe didn't understand. I called my mom every hour to see if things were going okay which of course they were. I know when I have to leave him to go back to school he will be in good hands. My good friend Christy will be watching him at her home. She only watches her little boy and 2 others (Quinton will be one of the 2). I know he will get tons of love and attention, and he will only be about 5 minutes away from my school, so I will be able to go see him/feed him every day if I want to. Hopefully that will make leaving him each morning a little easier.

Gabe has a new job now. He is working part time for his friend Jeff at Target. It isn't the most glamorous job, and not one that he thoroughly enjoys, but it is a paycheck. God is definitely taking care of us and seeing us through this time like we knew he would. We are still searching for a church to call home, and have been visiting 2 in the last few weeks. We are waiting to see where God leads us. I am going to try and post more often and update the blog with pictures, etc.

Life's Little Twists and Turns

Life takes some interesting twists and turns as we go. This past Sunday (7-27-08), Gabe was asked to resign his position as youth pastor at Lake Worth Baptist Church. It was very unexpected and was not in any way our decision. The reasons he was asked to resign don't really matter. He loves the youth as if they were his own and will miss them very much. God is an amazing God, however, and has already provided him with another part-time job. He won't be making quite as much, but every little bit will help. We are in a waiting game now to see what/where God will lead us. (For obvious reasons we won't be staying at Lake Worth.)

Time Flies

I can't believe how fast time flies. Quinton is already 3 weeks and 2 days old! He is getting so big!! At his 2 week check up last week he was up to 21 1/2 inches long (up from 19 at birth) and he weighed 7 lbs and 11 oz (up from 6 lbs 12 oz at birth)! He seems to be gaining weight and getting longer every day. He still has the skinniest little arms and legs and no butt! We are starting to settle into a routine and there have only been a couple of nights where he didn't want to sleep. He is definitely Mommy's little man, but he adores his daddy as well! He loves to sleep curled up on his daddy's chest or in his mommy's arms. He is developing his own little personality.

Well Quinton is now 12 days old, and wow this is the greatest blessing God has given me since my wife. I can't believe that he is already here, he wasn't supposed to be here until last Thursday but he came early and how great that is. We have had a couple of bad nights, we put him down around 10pm and he wakes up at 1am and will not go to sleep till 2 or 3 and then he sleeps for 5 hours, I wish he would do that the first time, oh well. Michelle is not getting much sleep, and neither am I. I cannot wait until he starts sleeping through the night but it will soon come. And when he does it is a sign that he is getting older, and in some ways I wish he stayed like this for along time, but then he would not grow and he needs to. Yesterday was my mom's and granddad's birthday, mom turned 60 and granddaddy 84 and we took Quinton so he had along day, he met his great uncle and aunt and saw his great grandparents. This past Thursday he also met his aunt Sis and uncle Curtis for the first time as well and his cousin Olivia and I cant wait till they get older and play together. I cannot wait for the coming days and all the things that go with parent hood.

Musings on being a mom

As I think back over the last week, a part of me can't remember what life was like before Quinton arrived. It almost seems as if he has always been here. I look at his sweet little face and get so emotional. There are so many times that I just stare at him as he is eating or sleeping and I wonder how I could be so blessed. He is such a little miracle and I just love him so much!!!

Michelle's Feelings

I was a bit upset to learn that Quinton was going to be arriving via c-section unlike what we planned!! In the end though, we wanted a healthy, unharmed baby, and if that meant a c-section I was okay with that! I am feeling the pain now, but it was worth it to bring the best little baby in the world into the world. I pray now that he will grow up to be a strong Christian man with morals and values. He is such a special little guy and I can't imagine life without him!!

Well it finally happened. He is now here Quinton Edward Guess entered into this world Wednesday night at 10:04pm, he is 6lb 12oz and 19 inch log. When you try to explain the feeling to people it is so hard. Because it is something well you just have to experience for yourself. I will tell you it was a rush. It was one of the best things to ever happen to me in my life. He is the best thing in the world. Michelle is doing great, she is the best wife in the world. I will post more later about all the events.
